CeTI’s central vision is to enable humans to interact in quasi real-time with cyber-physical systems (CPS) in the real or virtual world over intelligent wide-area communication networks. Such advances go far beyond the current state-of-the-art approaches in computer and engineering sciences: intelligent communication networks and adaptive CPS for quasi real-time co-operations with humans require online mutual learning mechanisms, which are crucial challenges.

To tackle these challenges, CeTI will conduct unique interdisciplinary research and will address major open research topics in key areas of the complexity of human control in the human–machine loop, sensor and actuator technologies, software and hardware designs, and the communication networks as the basis for several novel use cases grouped in medicine, industry, and the Internet of Skills.

Wir sind ein Exzellenzcluster!

In the summer of 2016, the German Federal and State governments agreed a follow-up programme to the Excellence Initiative – namely the “Excellence Strategy” – which aims to promote top-level research and outstanding achievements of German universities. TU Dresden is fully committed to making a success of the Excellence Strategy and to defend its title of “University of Excellence”.

On 27. September 2018, the Excellence Commission, consisting of the members of the international Committee of Experts and the research ministers of the federal and state governments, selected the clusters to be funded from among 88 proposed projects.

Our CeTI proposal was approved based on the assessment of a panel comprising international experts from different countries. We are very happy and honoured that our proposal, which had been prepared for more than one year, has been selected for the Excellence Initiative.
